Cancer Council Queensland Tobacco Programs team leader Rachel Hull said it was an alarming fact that the proportion of smokers in Central Queensland is about 40 per cent higher than the rate for all of Queensland. “In the Central Queensland region alone, more than 100 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer each year,” Ms Hull said.
