Drink green tea to get over the nicotine addiction, declared Chinese scientists — and this is a finding that medical professionals in Kerala have reacted positively to. A recent research titled `A Revolutionary Approach for the Cessation of Smoking Tobacco`, published in Science China Life Sciences, a peer-reviewed open-access journal, cites how investigators used custom-developed cigs with components of green tea as filters in a bid to treat addiction to smoking habit. Phinse Philip, a lecturer in the Community Oncology Division of the Malabar Cancer Centre, argued that pharmacotherapy such as nicotine replacement therapy had generally been found effective in getting smokers to quit smoking.

Rates of illegal tobacco products sales into the UK have dropped despite earlier requests from the tobacco company that tax increases would prompt a raise in the illicit tobacco trade, official figures showed. An estimated nine percent of cigarettes in the UK in 2010/11 were illegal, in comparison with 11 percent in the previous year, according to HM Revenue & Customs. Here it comes, couched in an otherwise rather obtuse debate about state tax ordinance — one more erroneous from the people who profit from the deadly and addictive smoking habit. “We’re still just selling free tobacco,” declared Renia Liu about her family-owned tobacco business, the Tobacco Roll shop in Clifton Park. Not quite. It’s selling tobacco products, all right, but in a way that horrible, if cleverly, dodges the appropriately high taxes on manufactured cigs.
