A New Anti-Smoking Mechanism Against Secondhand Smoking Exposure
Every smoker and non-smokers know how harmful can be cigarettes smoking and even tobacco smoke or secondhand smoking. However they all continue to enjoy their favorite cigarettes like Marlboro, Kent, Pall Mall etc. So, this is the main cause why the Delhi government will soon be installing nicotine meters in offices across the city to detect the presence of the chemical in atmosphere. The first nicotine meter — imported from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore — has already been installing at the Delhi Secretariat.
“The machine was introduced in April and the results of the effectiveness of the machine are being analysed. Once the results are out, based on them, we will place the machine in other offices too,” Delhi Health minister Kiran Walia said.
The government is hoping to track the amount of tobacco consumption by installing nicotine monitors to detect the presence of residue of the stimulant. An ‘air nicotine metre’ was installed inside the premises of Delhi Secretariat.
“It was introduced as part of the ‘environment tobacco smoke study’ undertaken here,” she declared.
So, all hope that the new anti-smoking mechanism will decrease the secondhand smoking exposure.
