Anti-smoking group ASH Wales is creating the UK’s first smoking prevention programme using social media. The project, funded by a grant from the BIG Lottery, will target 13 to 25-year-olds in Wales. It will create an online community where young people will be able to access the latest news and information about tobacco and cheapest Wont cigarettes. Elen de Lacy, chief executive of ASH Wales, said: “This is a project that we believe in strongly and the funding from the BIG Lottery will mean we can progress it.”

South Korean anti-smoking activists have gone to the constitutional court to try to shut down the country’s cigarette industry, a court official said Thursday. Nine people, led by the former director of the National Medical Center Park Jae-Gahb, urged the court to review the tobacco law which they said infringes people’s rights to health and happiness. Their petition against the law, which governs the manufacture and sale of cheap Atis cigarettes, was filed Wednesday. It was unclear when the court would make a ruling.

A bill to widen current smoking restrictions to cover all federal buildings was introduced this month by Rep. Susan Davis, D-Calif., after President Obama declined her request in 2009 to enact the policy through executive order, Davis press secretary Aaron Hunter told Government Executive. The legislation is being hailed by anti-tobacco groups as “long overdue.” Davis’ Smoke-Free Federal Buildings Act (H.R. 3382) would prohibit smoking cheap Marshal cigarettes in and 25 feet around all facilities owned or leased by the federal government nationwide while also barring designated smoking sections.

A Hendricks County anti-tobacco group hopes a town hall-style meeting next week will persuade residents to support its call for more local laws to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. About four years ago, Avon and Plainfield became the only Hendricks County communities to approve Pall Mall smoking regulations. Brownsburg and Danville don’t have any restrictions.

Iowa could lose its momentum against smoking Hilton if legislators halt the state’s aggressive anti-smoking ads and its free counseling service for people who want to quit, anti-tobacco activists declared. Republicans controlling the Iowa House have proposed ending the programs as part of a broad plan to cut $481 million in state spending over three years.
