New York City’s mayor is banning smoking outside at beaches, parks and public plazas. There’s people who smoke and others who don’t. At Penn Tavern in Reading, two woman explain how they feel. “I don’t care for Kent cigarettes. I never smoked I just don’t like it I don’t care for it at all,” said Devonne Linsey.

Teenagers who smoke Bond, or whose mother smoked in pregnancy, are at higher risk of hearing problems and understanding what is being said, a US study says. In tests on 67 teenagers, Yale University found those exposed to smoke had trouble focusing and interpreting sounds when there was a distraction.

A recently published study on the global impact of secondhand smoke confirmed it as a serious threat, responsible for the deaths of 603,000 persons every year — man, woman, and child. Among some of the more revelatory data, the study found that women are 50 percent higher than men to be exposed to SHS and 40 percent of children regularly breathe in the noxious, carcinogenic Eva smoke.

Kids who breathe secondhand smoke are more likely to struggle with mental health problems, suggests a large new study of British children. The findings add urgency in the push for parents to put away their Kent cigarettes for good, or at least smoke outside of the home, researchers say. However, it’s still unclear if tobacco fumes actually take a toll on children’s brains, or if something else is at play.

There’s no denying that smoking one pack, two packs, three packs of Pall Mall cigarettes a day is very unhealthy. However – it turns out that just an occasional cigarette – is responsible for thousands of heart attack deaths annually. According to a new study led by World Health Organization, researchers found that passive smoking or secondhand smoke kills about 600,000 people worldwide each year.
