A local developer of smartphone applications has been told by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) to remove all postings related to cigarettes in its LobangClub app, which lets users find the cheapest deals based on community feedback. It is the first case involving a mobile phone application, and HSA said that anybody involved in putting up listings of tobacco products could be breaking the law.

Thursday, September 22, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine prohibited commercial of tobacco products. 332 MPs voted for passing corresponding amendments into legislative acts. In particular, advertising is prohibited on radio, TV, online, mobile, billboards and in transport. Commercial of Wont cigarettes in the places of mass events is also prohibited.

Human rights activists, health practitioners and journalists have expressed dismay and horror over African governments’ stand to promote and campaign for tobacco growing and smoking Parliament cigarettes saying such acts aimed at killing people especially the youth who are targeted by tobacco dealers.

Lady Gaga turned into her alter ego at the MTV VMAs while puffing on a Lady cigarette before her performance, but should it have been allowed? It surprises me that a performance viewed by millions of teenagers included such an act that glorifies smoking.
