Smoking Ban in City Parks is a Good Idea, the Houston Fire Department Said

best quality atis cigarettesAs the drought creates an environment of extreme fire danger, the city of Houston is considering a ban on smoking Atis cigarettes in city parks. A 1,500 acre fire burned through George Bush Park Tuesday. It was brought under control early Wednesday morning and was 95 percent contained at 4:15 p.m., the Houston Fire department said.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker flew over Houston-area parks Wednesday and said the outlook is grim, with lots of brown trees and grass.

Marat Nasyore, a runner, said he thinks a smoking ban in city parks is a good idea.

“Because every time I run I see a lot of dried trees,” he said. “It’s really dangerous if someone just throws a cigarette, it can start a fire easily.”

Burned out cigarette butts littered the sidewalks winding through bone-dry grass trees and grass at nearby Hershey Park and smoking isn’t allowed in county parks because of the burn ban.

“I use my bike to go to work and back, I notice at nighttime you can see the cigarettes, so it’s kind of freaked me out,” said Jeff Hunter, a cyclist.

A lot people didn’t know about the smoking ban in county parks.

“I don’t think it should be a permanent thing, but while we’re having this drought, yeah,” said Josh Moore, who is a smoker.
