Anti-Smoking Programs, Young Smokers

Nonetheless, she answered. “The black one (lung specimen) is scary, but I think I understand better the bad effects of smoking now,” the Primary 6 pupil said. The display, on property from the National University of Singapore (NUS), includes an ulcerated stomach and two hearts with clogged arteries, all preserved in glass cases. The specimens are part of a new anti-smoking program started by Alexandra Hospital.

Most Young Victorians Have Never Smoked

Researcher Melanie Wakefield said the Cancer Council survey showed that while younger people are more likely to smoke than their older counterparts, smoking rates have declined by 6.9 per cent among people aged 18 to 29 since 2005.
