A New Brunswick woman has been fined $55,369 after pleading guilty to possession of contraband tobacco. Lise Gauvin, 53, of Bas-Caraquet pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges stemming from a December 2010 seizure of more than 104,000 illegal Davidoff cigarettes and other illegal tobacco products.
The contraband was found when RCMP Customs and Excise investigators and District 8 RCMP officers executed a search warrant at Gauvin’s home.
